Porsche Panamera

Porsche India has bought its most awaited car Porsche Panamera on 1st of October on Indian roads. The Porsche Panamera is launched in Mumbai first at the Porsche Centre at a press event, by its official importer for India, Precision Cars India.

Porsche Panamera IndiaThe first four door sedan by the company is available in three different variants S, 4S and the Turbo. The Panamera S and 4S are powered by a 395bhp 4.8-litre V8 engine and the Turbo variant has 493bhp 4.8-litre V8 twin turbo engine.

Porsche has maintained its trademark styling with this four-seater car. The unmistakable headlamp shape and arrangement, along with the typical 911-style curvaceous tail is all present on this car. The car though has front-engine configuration similar to their Cayenne SUV.

Porsche has plans of developing the hybrid variant of the Porsche Panamera which will be powered with a 3.6-litre V6 engine and a 34kW electric motor which powers the Cayenne hybrid. The car once produced may reach to India also.

Packed with a wide range of innovative technologies including five world firsts in motoring, the Porsche Panamera combines the looks of a coupe, the opulence of a luxury car, four-seater space and Porsche's distinctive driving dynamics.

The local provider, Precision Cars India is already booked for 13 Panamera and is expecting 50 total units to be sold over the next year. The car is one of the best performance cars with maximum fuel efficiency.

A top company official said that the Precision Cars, the official importer of Porsche in India, is planning to increase its dealer network from the current two to six during the next year.

Precision Cars' Managing Director Rod Wallace told reporters, "We are expanding our dealer network and want to have a presence in six cities in 2010." He added, "We have signed contracts with dealers in Hyderabad, Kochi and Chennai. These cities would have their local Porsche centres in this calendar year".

The Porsche Panamera S will be available in India with a price tag of Rs. 14,436,000 (ex-showroom, India except Delhi, includes VAT and import duties) and Porsche Panamera 4S and Porsche Panamera Turbo for Rs. 14,983,000 (ex-showroom, India except Delhi, includes VAT and import duties) and Rs. 20,558,000 (ex-showroom, India except Delhi, includes VAT and import duties) respectively.
