LA FERRARI OGGI A FIORANO HA PROVATO L'ASSETTO PICCHIATO

Questa mattina, a girato per una ripresa filmata pubblicitaria autorizzata dalla FIA, sulla pista di Fiorano la Ferrari modificata che disputerà il Gp della Turchia. . Si tratta della monoposto evoluzione che è chiamata a risollevare le sorti del Cavallino rampante dopo un avvio di campionato certamente non all'altezza delle aspettative.

Felipe Massa però ha avuto la possibilità di verificare alcune soluzioni di assetto che dovrebbero avvicinare le Rosse a Red Bull Racing e McLaren, le due squadre che hanno vinto i primi tre Gp della stagione 2011: se guardate bene le foto la Rossa nel posteriore è più alta del solito. A Istanbul ci sarà un pacchetto di novità (un alettone e una sospensione posteriore rivista).
In Turchia, infatti, ci sarà un nuovo alettone anteriore concepito per garantire più carico aerodinamico sul davanti senza penalizzare troppo l'efficienza, con le paratie laterali di nuovo disegno e i flap rivisti.Le novità più importanti riguardano la zona degli scarichi che saranno  ancora più incanalati verso la tangente della ruota posteriore seguendo un concetto che è stato brillantemente sviluppato da Adrian Newey sulla RB7. La Ferrari per esasperare questo concetto, dovrà ridisegnare la sospensione posteriore onde evitare che il puntone dello schema push-rod determini un nocivo bloccaggio dei gas roventi destinati invece ad infilarsi sotto al diffusore posteriore per creare una sorta di “minigonna termica” che permette di “sigillare” il fondo con l'assetto più “picchiato”, vale a dire con il retrotreno più alto da terra. A Maranello sono molto fiduciosi e credono che con quetso progetto la Ferrari diventerà mlto più competitiva. Se così non fosse
prepariamoci a possibili cambiamenti nella pianta organica dello staff tecnico. Oggi il nome più chiacchierato è quello di Nikolas Tombazis, il progettista che ha firmato la 150° Italia.

Il progetto della Ferrari 150°Italia è da cestinare?

La stagione europea si sta avvicinando e a Maranello stanno decidendo i passi futuri per poter disputare una stagione 2011 da protagonisti. Ormai è chiaro a tutti, ora (per fortuna) anche ai tecnici della Ferrari si sono resi conto che il progetto della 150 Italia è da buttare nel cestino. Ormai,la Rossanon è inferiore solo a Red Bull, ma anche a McLaren, Mercedes e molto probabilmente anche alla Lotus- Renault. Il problema principale perla Ferrariè la cronica mancanza di carico aerodinamico, soprattutto, all'avantreno. Gli altri team stanno continuando con lo sviluppo delle proprie vetture mentre a Maranello sono fermi da mesi per analizzare il problema di questa mancanza di carico visto che la galleria del vento dice tutt'altro.

le prospettive che Stefano Domenicali e i suoi uomini stanno prendendo in esame sono principalmente due:

- recuperare in breve tempo il gap dai leader con l'introduzioni di novità tecniche che permettano alla Ferrari di recuperare parte del carico aerodinamico mancante;

- abbandonare tutto e concentrarsi, fin da subito, sulla monoposto del 2012.

Il problema  del carico aerodinamico mancante,la Ferrarise lo porta dietro dalla sfortunatissima stagione 2009; in coincidenza con il cambiamento regolamentare che vietò tutte le appendici aerodinamiche e abolì definitivamente i test in pista durante la stagione. Ormai è chiaro che da quando non ci sono più i testla Rossaè in difficoltà. Anche l'anno scorso,la F10, face il salto di qualità quando i tecnici Ferrari copiarono gli scarichi della Red Bull e li introdussero in vettura durante l'estate 2010. Anche se, come dice Aldo Costa, D.T della Rossa, il distacco della Ferrari versola RedBulll'anno scorso era molto più contenuto rispetto a quest'anno. Questa da parte del progettista capo della Ferrari sembrano parole di resa.

In Ferrari, per la mancanza di carico aerodinamico, hanno incolpato l'errata taratura della galleria del vento disegnata da Renzo Piano nel 1998, che ha fornito ai tecnici dati errati sulle prestazioni aerodinamiche della vettura. La domanda che dobbiamo porci è la seguente: non che in Ferrari, dopo l'ennesimo cambio regolamentare di quest'anno (abolizione doppi diffusori, abolizione F-Duct, diffusori più piccoli, ecc) si sono fissati degli obiettivi troppo modesti in termini di recupero di carico per il progetto 662? In Ferrari sembra che abbiano stimato di avere gli stessi livelli di carico del 2010 mentre, per esempio, in Red Bull Adrian Newey ha voluto addirittura superare questo limite. Se si analizzano le prestazioni ottenute in qualifica da Red Bul, McLaren e Ferrari in queste prime tre gare ci si accorge subito di una cosa: RB ha migliorato le proprie prestazioni di circa 8 decimi, McLaren a migliorato di 5 decimi mentrela Ferrariha peggiorato le prestazioni di 2 decimi. Sicuramente i miglioramenti saranno anche dovuti all'uso in qualifica del DRS e del Kers  che l'anno scorso non erano presenti, ma questo sta a significare che gli altri hanno avvicinato i livelli di carico del 2010 mentre in Ferrari sono ben distanti. E questa cosa a Maranello la sapevano benissimo infatti, Aldo Costa, prima della trasferta australiana aveva rilasciato un'intervista alla Stampa in cui diceva chiaramente chela F150°Italia era più lenta rispetto alla F10. Quindi, secondo me, la galleria del vento è soltanto una scusa e le parole di Costa sembrano dimostrarlo.

INNOVAZIONI FERRARI IN TURCHIA

 Ala anteriore flessibile

La Ferrarista lavorando ad un alettone anteriore flessibile abbinato all'ormai famoso assetto picchiato che caratterizzala RedBull.In Ferrari l'ala l'anno studiata durante l'inverno ma anno deciso, inspiegabilmente, di abbandonarla perchè avevano paura di non riuscire a passare i nuovi test imposti dalla FIA. Ora, riuscire a realizzare, un alettone anteriore flessibile con tre mesi di ritardo sulla concorrenza è un impresa molto difficile. Per avere una fibra di carbonio che abbia una flessione non lineare, serve una costruzione complessa, a strati, con le fibre disposte in maniera particolare. A Shanghai è stata fatta debuttare un’aerodinamica anteriore nuova sulla monoposto

di Alonso: l’alettone aveva ben 7 punti di differenza dalla soluzione usata in gara ed era abbinato a prese dei freni che adottavano appendici utilizzate da quasi un anno da tutti gli avversari. Questo sta a significare che lo staff tecnico soffre di una cronica mancanza di idee, di innovazione. L'ultima soluzione all'avanguardia che gli uomini in Rosso anno introdotto su una propria monoposto è stato il muso col buco del 2008. Troppo per un team che si considera all'avanguardia comela Ferrari.

Sospensione posteriore

La Ferrari, quest'anno ha fatto una scelta in controtendenza rispetto agli altri team, perchè ha realizzato una sospensione posteriore di tipo push rod mentre, buona parte degli avversari, ha copiato la soluzione Red Bull che già dal 2009 usa la pull rod. Per fare un esempio, la push rod è usata da Ferrari, Sauber, HRT, Virgin mentre tutti gli altri usano lo schema sospensivo a tirante.

Perchè questa scelta fatta a Maranello? I tecnici pensavano di avere disegnato unna sospensione innovativa e credevano di ottenere da tale sistema gli stessi vantaggi aerodinamici del pull rod aumentando le possibilità di intervento e modifica (caratteristiche del sistema a puntone). Scelta che si è rilevata sbagliatissima. Ora è altamente improbabile che si passi ad una sospensione pull rod durante questa stagione. Tale soluzione, darebbe vantaggi sul carico aerodinamico, per mettendo un diverso passaggio dei flussi  un maggiore sfruttamento degli scarichi. In Turchia,la Ferrariporterà una sospensione completamente rivista,cambiando gli attacchi a scocca e cambio in funzione dell'assetto picchiato che la vettura avrà. Ormai è chiaro a tutti che uno

dei punti chiave del maggiore sfruttamento del concetto aerodinamico della RB7 si basa sulla possibilità di liberare la zona bassa dello schema sospensivo, dove il soffiaggio degli scarichi funge quasi da «minigonna termica», sigillando i profili estrattori al terreno e aumentandone l’efficacia. Lo si nota dalla maggiore altezza da terra delle pareti esterne dei canali laterali del diffusore delle RB7 .Per l’assetto «in picchiata» le Red Bull in pista sono poi caratterizzate da un’altezza da terra del retrotreno quasi raddoppiata rispetto alle altre monoposto 







Da queste soluzioni (ala flessibile, sospensione posteriore rivista, modifiche a scarichi e diffusore e uso di un assetto picchiato) i tecnici della Rossa si aspettano un  miglioramento di prestazione di circa 1 secondo al giro. Tale miglioramento non è sicuramente necessario a raggiungere i rivali della Red Bull perchè mancherebbe ancora circa mezzo secondo. Se tali soluzioni non daranno il risultato sperato, probabilmente i tecnici, abbandoneranno lo sviluppo della vettura di quest'anno e si concentreranno su quella del prossimo anno. Ma se i tecnici sono gli stessi, da dove tireranno fuori idee nuove visto che ormai sembrano spremuti???

Perché la RedBull vola in qualifica mentre in gara la McLaren è vicinissima????

Le prime tre gare della stagione ci hanno fornito tantissime informazioni e dati su cui riflettere in modo da comprendere nel migliore dei modi le reali prestazioni delle vetture. Una cosa che ha colpito molto in questo inizio di stagione è il passo fortissimo delle Red Bull in qualifica e il recupero in gara della McLaren sulla RB stessa. Tale recupero non è stato sempre causato dalle differenti strategie o dalla diversa usura delle gomme. Durante l’ultimo gran premio della Cina,in qualifica, Sebastian Vettel ha staccato la prima McLaren di Button di ben 7 decimi di secondo, mentre in Malesia il distacco era molto contenuto, 1 decimo di secondo. In gara, invece, soprattutto in Malesia e Cina, piste caratterizzate da lunghi rettilinei e curve ad alta velocità, la McLaren è sempre rimasta molto vicino in termini di prestazione ai rivali della Red Bull. Perche questo cambiamento tra qualifica e gara? Sicuramente il KERS della McLaren è molto più efficiente rispetto a quello della RB in quanto quest’ultima sta incontrando parecchie difficoltà a farlo funzionare al meglio. Per esempio, nella partenza del gp di Cina, Vettel è riuscito a sfruttare per un malfunzionamento del sistema, soltanto 30 cv di extra potenza contro gli 80 previsti dal regolamento e sfruttati dalla squadra di Woking. Grazie a questo, Button è riuscito a sopravanzare il pilota tedesco della RB nella partenza del GP. Il team ha, inoltre spiegato, che non è ancora riuscito a sfruttare appieno le potenzialità del Kers durante la gara in quanto soffre di problemi di surriscaldamento delle componenti interni che limitano il suo funzionamento. Un ingegnere importante e famoso che lavoro per un team di Formula 1 mi ha fatto notare che la Red Bull “vola” in qualifica grazie al sistema di regolazione dell’ala posteriore DRS. L’ala Red Bull ha un disegno del piano superiore molto inclinato che permette di ottenere una riduzione della resistenza più grande della McLaren quando questo è attivato. Questo, da a Webber e Vettel un vantaggio in qualifica molto grande, perche il DRS può essere attivato liberamente e in ogni zona della pista. In gara, quando il DRS può essere utilizzato soltanto in una zona della pista e soltanto in situazioni particolari, le McLaren hanno un vantaggio perché l loro ala posteriore permette di avere velocità di punta più elevate rispetto ai rivali nei rettilinei, tranne che nella zona in cui si può attivare il DRS. A Shanghai, per esempio, nella gara la velocità massima di Hamilton nel settore 1 era di 291 km/h mentre Vettel viaggiava a 273 km/h. Nel settore 2, Hamilton 269 km/h, Vettel 267 km/h. Nel settore 3, Hamilton 258 km/h e Vettel 256 km/h. Ovviamente, Hamilton è riuscito a raggiungere e sopravanzare Vettel grazie alla strategia, in quanto l’inglese montava delle gomme nuove mentre il tedesco aveva gomme parecchio usurate. Le differenze in gare si sono notate soprattutto in Malesia, dove Vettel e Button avevano la medesima strategia, ma la McLaren aveva un usura delle gomme posteriori migliore rispetto alla RB. Questa è una delle ragioni per cui il mondiale potrebbe essere lottato anche quest’anno fino alla fine. Sicuramente Ferrari e Mercedes dovranno lavorare duramente per inserirsi nella lotta di testa perché McLaren e Red Bull sembrano avere parecchi vantaggi in questo momento della stagione. Sulla questione DRS, la Mercedes sta avendo parecchi problemi nello sfruttamento, Schumacher ha accusato un avaria durante le qualifiche della Cina che ne ha compromesso il risultato. I problemi sembrano essere di carattere aerodinamico, nel senso che il flusso d’aria non si “attacca” istantaneamente quando il DRS viene chiuso. Questo era un problema che molti team avevano l’anno scorso quando avevano introdotto sulle vetture l’ormai famoso F-DUCT. I tecnici della Mercedes, nel disegnare l’ala posteriore, sono stati molto aggressivi infatti quando riescono a far funzionare il DRS hanno i maggiori vantaggi rispetto ai rivali con un incremento di velocità di ben 20 km/h. Sicuramente in Mercedes, in queste 3 settimane, lavoreranno per cercare di risolvere tali problemi, in modo da portare in Turchia un’ala meno estrema ma più efficace

Designed to FIA regulations, the 2012 Aston Martin Sports Cars Vantage GT3 will be built around the Vantage aluminium VH architecture with a lightweight dry-sumped 6.0 litre V12 engine, based on the V12 Vantage road car. The engine is capable of delivering 600 HP and a peak torque of 516 lb ft.
The 2012 Aston Martin Sports Cars Vantage GT3 will be equipped with a race semi-automatic paddle shift Xtrac gearbox and the latest race-developed ABS and traction control systems. However, the competition has moved on and we needed to create a new car that combines our six years’ experience in this category with the latest race technology to continue Aston Martin’s success in GT3 for many years to come.”
The first 2012 Aston Martin Sports Cars Vantage GT3 will be completed in July 2011 and will undergo tests and development program during the rest of the year. Ten customer cars will be built ready for delivery for the start of the 2012 season.
